Updater Named One of Crain’s 2018 Best Places to Work in NYC
Updater was named a Top 100 Crain’s “Best Place to Work” in New York City, for the second time!
For the past decade, Crain’s New York Business and Best Companies Group have been recognizing and ranking the top companies to work for in NYC. After surveying more than 20,000 employees, the top 100 companies are chosen from many industries, but all share the continued commitment to creating a collaborative, cooperative, and empowering work environment.
“There’s little that beats this feeling,” says Lindsey Dole, our VP of People. “We’ve always been a company with a strong culture, but we create it intentionally, not accidentally. Everything we do is about our people.”
Like Lindsey said, our people take a front seat. From acknowledging achievements and encouraging creativity, to offering training programs and (frequent) team events, we continuously invest in a dynamic, happy work environment.

But culture isn’t everything – growth is critical to each and every one of us having a fulfilling career. From day one, each employee is provided with a thought framework dedicated toward leadership, personal growth, flexing your work styles, and learning. We introduce ourselves to exciting new challenges, value each other’s ideas, and support each other’s growth. We view ourselves as stakeholders, ensuring that we’re all owners and crucial to the company’s overall success. We have no “extra” roles at Updater – every single one of us is critical.
Crain’s will release the numerical rankings online and in print on Monday, December 3rd, and an online report will be released at crainsnewyork.com. The survey itself was a comprehensive questionnaire, split into two parts and administered to companies across all five boroughs. The first part (25% of the ranking) evaluated each employer based on company practices, policies, philosophy, and demographics. The second part (75% of the ranking) evaluated employee engagement and satisfaction based on leadership, culture, training, and work environment. The combined scores determined each organization’s placement in the top 100 list, and will define final rankings.
The full list of Crain’s 100 Best Places to Work in NYC names companies from a range of industries, including staffing, engineering, and fellow tech companies. We are proud to accompany such a vast range of organizations who share our commitment to a supportive work environment and strong company culture.
