Meet Updater: Fallon Relay, Client Success Manager

Introducing Client Success Manager and self-proclaimed crazy kitten lady, Fallon Relay. When she’s not fostering a kindle of kittens, you can find her eating chocolate or maybe an eggplant parm sandwich. Find out what makes Fallon tick and why she calls herself the “crazy kitten lady.”

Where did you grow up?

NY and NJ.

How many times have you moved?

Nine times.

Do you have a moving horror story?

Absolutely! I was only moving a few blocks during a snowstorm, but between the weather and my roommate underestimating how much stuff she had, the moving company didn’t move any of my furniture out of my room! I had to gather my friends to help me hand carry everything, after paying the movers.

What are two personal tidbits about you?

  1. I’m a crazy kitten lady. I foster for a local shelter and am always stocked with kitten formula and toys in prep for my temporary guests.

  2. I’m insanely scared of blood, like pass-out-during-an-episode-of-True-Blood level scared.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Updater?

Our smart team. Everyone is the perfect combo of fun and driven. It’s really special.

How did you come to work at Updater?

I found Updater online and was so impressed by all of the awesome video content about the company that I decided to apply.

What’s the best part about working on a small team?

That everyone’s role is essential to Updater’s success. Everyone is needed and your opinion is not only appreciated but valued, which feels pretty amazing!

What’s your go-to afternoon sugar rush?

Chocolate!

What’s the most interesting thing you have on your desk at the moment?

I try to keep my desk pretty clear, so it’s actually pretty boring if I’m being honest.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t be afraid to ask questions. These two things put you in a vulnerable position, so it can be hard, but doing both is essential to growth. So go mess some sh*t up and ask the question you think is “stupid,” which it’s not by the way.

In your opinion, what NYC borough is the best borough? Why?

I’ve lived in three of them and I love Manhattan the most. It just has this fast-paced vibe every day of the week that you don’t quite find anywhere else.

What’s your favorite place you‘ve traveled?

Argentina. We did a hike that went from cold rain, to warm sun, to a foot of snow at the summit. It’s a beautiful place and the water is so clean!

What three words describe you best?

Quirky, kind, and hungry (in both senses of the word).

You’re throwing a dinner party and can invite anyone you want (dead or alive), but you can only invite five people. Who gets a seat at your table and what do you cook?

Can I invite five dogs? We can have steak with peanut butter and they can just shower me with love. Plus, they won’t judge me for wearing sweatpants.

What’s your favorite book?

I love the collection of Kite Runner books from Khaled Hosseini.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?

A vet! I love animals but I’m afraid of blood so that wasn’t exactly realistic. Nobody wants a fainting vet.

What four things can you not live without?

Sleep (I try to get 10 hours a night), meditation, animals, and beach days.

You just joined the circus, what’s your talent?

A lion tamer aka lion whisperer (I like cats).

You’re about to move. What would you make sure to never do again?

Not hire a moving company!

Have you ever gotten really lost? What happened?

Yes, I fell asleep on a bus once and ended up in a parking lot with an almost dead cell phone. Then, I stood under a closed Taco Bell awning in the pouring rain!

Lunch is on us! What’s your dream sandwich?

Eggplant parm!

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

What the world needs now or anything by Beyoncé.

You have a million dollars and 24 hours to spend it. What do you buy?

I would book tickets and accommodations to fly around the world with my family. I’d donate whatever was left to an animal rescue.

What’s the largest item you’ve ever had to carry on the subway?

A really heavy mirror. I regret that. So much sweating.

What are two truths and a lie about you?

  1. I’m left-handed.

  2. I actually like leftovers.

  3. I eat breakfast like a regular person.
