December at Updater: Closing Out the Year in Updater Fashion
In last month’s recap, we teased the beginning of our annual Updater Podsgiving Food Drive where we team up with Move for Hunger. This month, we drove it all home with a big finish! In total, we collected 1,284 items of food, toiletries, and diapers. All items were donated to St. John’s Bread and Life in Brooklyn, NY. We’d also like to give a big shoutout to Gentle Giant who provided us with boxes to pack up the collected items and transported it all to St. John’s for us. Here’s to next year and helping out more people in our community!
Intern Appreciation Night
Once again, we’ve brought to a close another amazing semester in the Updater Intern program. Our interns never cease to impress us and this fall was no exception. To show our fellow comrades exactly how much we appreciate their hard work, we treated them to dinner and a night of magic at Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway. The show did not disappoint! Julia, we appreciate all your hard work, you'll be missed. Ben and Emily, glad to have you aboard for another semester!
We Attended the 33rd Annual TRENDS Conference in Seattle
Earlier in the month, our Regional Vice President of Multifamily, Wade McGown, attended the 33rd Annual TRENDS Rental Housing Management Conference and Trade Show in Seattle, WA. Attendance at the conference was impressive, and it was lovely to be able to spend time with our other software friends in the industry including Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, and ResMan. The event featured workshops and sessions exploring topics like short-term rentals and conflict resolution with tenants.
We’re Filming a New Employee Recruitment Video!
There is nothing we enjoy more than when our remote team members make their way to Updater HQ in NYC. Mid-month we were lucky enough to have not one, not two, but a slew of both Updater and MoveHQ folks find their way home. From MoveHQ, Brian Ferguson and Joe Bippen were in the office, as well as Updater team members Chris Burke, Dean Shibler, Greg Toomey, and Wade McGown.
While we had so many of our favorite guys in town, we thought it was a great time to get a jumpstart on filming our new employee recruiting video. We’re still deep into edits but you can check out a sneak peek below. Stay tuned for the final cut, including interviews with employees from across departments!
An Epic 2017 Updater Holiday Party
Last, but definitely not least, the Updater team did one of the many things we do best, celebrate! Before many of us took off for far-flung corners of the country/globe, we all gathered together to appreciate our friendship and to celebrate our growing team and our many accomplishments of 2017. Our holiday party was so amazing that BuiltInNYC gave us a shoutout as one of the 9 coolest holiday parties in the NYC tech scene. We'd like to give a huge thank you to Ashley, our People Experience Manager, who planned and executed the entire party. Ashley, you’re truly the best!
A Few Never-Before-Seen Photos
To round out the year, and as a gift to you, we dug deep and gathered a few never-before-seen Updater photos. They are the best of the best and some of our favorites. Enjoy!
This year has been chock-full milestones and memories, and we can’t wait to see what 2018 holds. To all our family and friends, near and far, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from everyone at Updater!
