Updater and Move for Hunger Turn Miles into Meals

Across the United States, 50 million Americans struggle to find their next meal. Closer to home, in New York City, 1.3 million area residents are food insecure, with over 22% of those in need being children. Over 40% of all food produced ends up in landfills…

“Hunger” is not a problem relegated to third world countries. The truth is that hunger is a massive problem right here at home in the US.

Here at Updater, we’re huge fans of the work carried out by Move for Hunger. In fact, one of our own recently joined their Board of Directors! Not familiar? Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that works with relocation companies across North America to pick up unwanted, unopened food from those who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks. To date, Move For Hunger is working with over 650 movers in 50 states, and their network has collected over 6 million pounds of food. Incredible!

Needless to say, we were thrilled to team up with Move for Hunger as our charitable partner for the 2016 Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Race. Another incredibly worthy cause, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors and supports our first responders and most catastrophically injured service members. See what our runners have to say about their running experiences and prepping for this race.

We’re proud to say we raised a total of $5,000 in just a few short weeks, and we’re honored to have been able to help two deserving organizations.
