Meet Updater: Madison Escobar, Recruiting Coordinator

After working as Updater’s Marketing & Events and Recruiting Intern for almost a year, Madison’s hard work and dedication shined through and she was quickly hired as our very first Recruiting Coordinator! We had the chance to sit down with Madison to talk about some of her favorite things about Updater, and how her spicy personality is reflected by her food preferences.

How many times have you moved?

Four times  – every year throughout college.

What’s your best piece of moving advice?

Plan, plan, plan!!

You’re about to move. What would you make sure to never do again?

I’d definitely make sure I didn’t wait to do everything at the last minute.

What’s the largest item you’ve ever had to carry on the subway?

Suitcases for winter break my junior year of college. I also happened to be traveling during Santa Con. That was easily the most interesting subway ride I’ve ever had.

How did you come to work at Updater?

I started as a Marketing & Events Intern during the fall of my senior year and now I’m the Recruiting Coordinator – crazy, right?!

What’s your favorite thing about working at Updater?

My favorite thing about working at Updater is the opportunity and future of the company! There are so many places Updater could go and all of the potential challenges excite me.

What’s the best part about working on a small team?

The best part about working on a small team is that you always get a chance to collaborate and work together. It’s so fun to figure things out as you go and learn from each other.

Whom do you admire most as a business leader?

Oprah and Shonda Rhimes, there is nothing they can’t do.

What motivates you to come to work every day?

I love the idea of being able to help expand the company. The more I can contribute, the better!

It’s the zombie apocalypse. Where do you hide?

I’d probably just give up and go home to be with my dog – the odds of me surviving are slim to none.

Which actor/actress would play you in a movie about your life?

Gina Rodriguez or Sophia Bush! I’m obsessed with everything they do.

What’s your favorite quote?

What’s the first app you check in the morning?

Spotify, I can’t function without music.

You have a time machine, but you can only make one trip. Where do you go?

I’d want to go back 30 years or so and hang out with my parents. I’ve always wondered what they were like as “normal people.”

If you were a food, what kind would you be? Why?

A taco without a doubt, so much variety and still a classic.

You can only eat one food for the rest of your life. What is it?

Spanish food and/or anything spicy!
