Once again, another month at Updater did not disappoint. From the solar eclipse to intern appreciation night, our ever-growing team was kept busy all month long.

Every day is memorable at Updater, but here are a just a few of our favorite moments.

We attended Inman Connect

Our real estate brokerage team attended Inman Connect in San Francisco, the leading educational conference for real estate professionals. The week was spent meeting with friends and partners, engaging with industry leaders, and taking in a few sights in San Francisco. We particularly want to give a shout out to the wonderful folks at SkySlope, BackAgent, zipLogix, RE/MAX Results, Redefy, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, DocuSign, and Second Century Ventures. You all made our trip exceptional.

And, last but certainly not least, thank you to Inman News and your entire team for once again hosting a classy, no-stone-left-unturned event. We always enjoy Connect and look forward to seeing everyone again in January, right here at home in NYC.

Another intern appreciation night under our belt

As always, our Updater Summer Interns were all-stars. To show them how much we appreciate their hard work, we treated them to a tacos and guac dinner at Tacombi, followed by a French macaron cooking class! Fun was had by all, not to mention the macaron-laden goodie bags we all took home. Words simply can’t express how much we appreciate their hard work, dedicating their summer to furthering our business. Victor and Simona, you will be missed! Emily, we look forward to having you back for a second semester in September!

We grew our footprint!

Updater is now helping more individuals than ever complete seamless and stress-free moves – over 15% of Americans to be exact. This is a major achievement for our team, for our clients and users, and for the relocation industry as a whole. We’re proud to pioneer innovation in moving and be the first – and leading – ReloTech provider in a space that so badly needed innovation.

Lunch and Learn Lambda calculus

We’re big on personal and professional growth at Updater and love a good Lunch and Learn. This month, our Lead Frontend Engineer, Patrick Mowrer, gave a crash course on Lambda calculus. Never heard of Lambda before? In Patrick lingo:

Lambda calculus is a universal method of calculation developed in the 1930s, well before the first computers and programming languages. It laid the foundation for programming in general and functional programming in particular

His talk drew in more than 10 Updateers, an internal record for a calculus talk! Thanks, Patrick!

We jumped on the solar eclipse wagon

Yes, we drank the Kool-Aid. But for good reason, how often do you get to watch a solar eclipse from a rooftop in Manhattan? Ashley, our People Experience Manager, did an amazing job prepping the whole team for the occasion. Check out the eclipse swag she put together for each of us. Are we lucky, or are we lucky?

New desks and a popcorn happy hour

It’s no secret that the Updater Team enjoys its happy hours. What can we say? We’re a social bunch and really like each other — a recipe for excellent workplace culture. This month we hosted a popcorn-themed happy hour with toppings galore! And, as you’re probably already aware, we’re hiring like crazy. With more bodies comes the need for more desks. We moved some furniture around and added an additional eight-desk pod.

Results from our client satisfaction survey are streaming in!

In mid-August, we sent out our client satisfaction survey. Our survey is a way to consistently measure ourselves, hear from our clients, and leverage their feedback to improve our product. Below are a few comments pulled directly from our survey.
