A Year in the Life of Updater

Updater, the app for moving that’s transforming the relocation industry, has had a banner year. To celebrate, we’d like to share some of our favorite Updater stats and fun facts from the last year. Enjoy!

We won major awards!

2016 was one for the record books. Updater was named one of Crain’s Best Places to Work in NYC for the first time. (In fact, we were #3 on the list!) We also won “Best Technology” at the 2016 AMSA Education Conference & Expo and a Silver Stevie® Award in the Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year category for the 2016 American Business Awards.

We had an incredibly far move

In 2016, an Updater user moved from Key West, Florida, to Hawaii! Nothing like trading one beach for another… across the country and then some.

We had an incredibly close move

Sometimes people move a few blocks, and other times… they move down the hall or from one floor to another. Last year, an Updater user moved within their building in Chicago, Illinois, just a couple of floors down.

We moved!

As of January 2017, Updater has a new HQ! That’s right — the app for moving has moved from the Flatiron District of New York City to a penthouse in Union Square.

We put the “update” in “Updater”

We updated thousands of accounts for Updater users in the last year. These were the 10 most popular accounts in need of updating:

  1. Delta Airlines
  2. American Airlines
  3. CVS
  4. United Airlines
  5. Marriott Rewards
  6. Better Homes and Gardens
  7. Real Simple
  8. Time
  9. People
  10. AARP

We welcomed more dogs to the team

We have 10+ “Pupdaters” on the Updater team. Here’s to many more!

We grew our client base

Toward the end of 2016, we had nearly 700 clients! Take a look at some of the wonderful things our clients have said about Updater lately.

We helped fight hunger for the holidays

Industry nonprofit Move for Hunger is a partner and longtime friends of ours, and we came together this past holiday season for an unforgettable food drive. The Updater team collected over 2,000 items — from diapers to toothbrushes — in just a few weeks to benefit our community.
