We spoke with Brandon Payton, the Property Manager at Modera Apartments, about the stresses of moving and how Updater makes move-in worlds easier for his team and their residents.
Since offering Updater for the first time, how have your residents responded?
I received an email just the other day from a resident moving in this month. She was completely thrilled with Updater and could not believe no other apartment where she has lived offered this service. My residents have been extremely responsive to Updater, with one of our properties having an 88% conversion rate!
How has offering Updater affected your resident happiness and loyalty?
Moving is one of the most stressful things a person can do. Updater has decreased the stress level simply by providing our residents a way to organize all those tasks they must complete when moving. When our residents are happy and ready to move in well before moving day... what more could we ask for?
What's one way Updater has helped your company or made the lives of your team members easier?
Just one!?! Updater has eased the burden of moving for our staff in more ways than one. For instance, we require confirmation of electric service transfer prior to moving in, and since this is part of what Updater does, we now have very few residents coming to us on moving day without this confirmation. This saves a lot of time for our residents and our staff.
Why do you think that working with Updater been successful for Modera?
Well, since Modera in particular has that 88% conversion rate, I would say that it’s been a rousing success! Our residents have busy lives and, in partnering with Updater, their time is acknowledged as being valuable. Updater is successful for us because it offers what people have a hard time putting into words; it’s a time-saving, hassle-free, stress-relieving moving amenity!
How would you describe your overall experience working with your Success Manager?
Landis has been amazing during the whole process of onboarding our properties. From providing flyers and goodies, being super responsive to emails, and even having a webinar with our entire staff to reiterate the benefits of Updater for staff and residents, Landis is truly a wonder. We deal with a lot of vendors in our day-to-day business, but I can honestly say there is no “dealing with” Landis. It’s a true pleasure to work with her in this partnership.

If you've been in the business for 15 years, you think you’ve seen it all. I wish I'd had Updater years ago and now I know that wherever I go, this will be an amenity and partnership I will absolutely bring with me.
