Meet Updater: Lauren Berry, Success Manager

Please say hello to the newest member of the Updater team, Lauren Berry! Lauren shares what it’s like working on the Updater team, her personal moving horror story, and a few fun facts about herself!

What do you do at Updater?
I’m a Success Manager. I work closely with our moving company clients to make sure that their journey with Updater is long and fruitful!

What did you do before working at Updater?
I was a Customer Success Manager for a SaaS-based company for several years, working primarily with multifamily resident portals.

Do you have a moving horror story?
Who doesn’t?! Once, when I was moving with my family as a child, the movers arrived intoxicated and dropped my dresser while loading it into the truck. Worse, they somehow managed to take down a phone line on their way out of the driveway. Needless to say, our family did not participate in their refer-a-friend program.

How many times have you moved?
A lot, even by New York standards! I’ve moved over 10 times in the past nine years.

Wow – sounds like you have a lot of experience! Any recommendations for someone who’s about to move?
I would never move into an apartment where the floors are not level. I used to live in apartment where it felt like there was constantly a 35 degree angle. It could be pretty disorienting!

So, you’re new to Updater – what’s been the best part so far?
My favorite part is the incredible team! Everyone has gone above and beyond to show me the ropes and explain how each department works towards the goal of making the best experience for their clients.

Where did you grow up?
I’m a born-and-raised New Jersey native, AKA I can be bribed with Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwiches any day.

What are two random/personal tidbits about you?
1. I cut my bangs a day before picture day in kindergarten because I had no more spare paper to cut. I’m pretty sure that my mother still does not trust me with a pair to this day. (See below!)

2. I also have never been skiing or snowboarding! Every year there is a lot of talk and some planning, but it’s never come to fruition.

Fast forward 100 years. What does the epithet on your gravestone say?
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the Aristocrats!”

What song best describes how you work?
Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor

What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
Shake Shack, hands down.

What are four things you can't live without?
Friends & family, podcasts, French fries, and caffeine

What's the first website/app you check in the morning?
The Weather Channel

What's your favorite Saturday Night Live skit?
It's a toss up between the Debbie Downer sketch and anything Chris Farley was in.
