Meet Updater: Brandi Whitlock, Client Success Manager
Introducing Brandi, an important member of the Updater Client Success powerhouse! We sat down with Brandi to learn where she'd run in a zombie apocalypse, as well as why commuting to work in a helicopter would be her preferred mode of transportation!
What do you do at Updater?
I’m a Client Success Manager – my job is to make sure our clients have a long, happy, and successful life with Updater.
What's the best part about working on a small team?
We’re a family. My success is everyone’s success and vice-versa. We’re putting it all on the line to build something great!
Do you have a moving horror story?
You bet. I was moving from my house in Alabama to an apartment in Georgia. The moving company didn’t have enough manpower to carry my piano down the stairs and said they would hold it in storage for me until they could come back. When I called to reschedule, they had no record of the piano in my file. I didn’t annotate it on my paperwork, so I had no recourse. The worst part? The piano was on loan to me from my parents. That was NOT a fun conversation. Paying them back was even less fun.
What's the largest item you've ever had to carry on the subway?
Extra shelves for my closet. Admittedly, they were too heavy, but I was too stubborn to turn around and get a cab.
How many times have you moved?
I was in the military, so a modest 9 times. I’ve felt the pain, and wish I’d had Updater...
Describe your ideal moving experience.
How about to never move again? Seriously, though. If I HAD to, I’d love to have someone coordinate everything for me. Like a wedding planner for your move.
What's your favorite part about working at Updater?
The people. And, nothing against my male coworkers (they’re awesome!), but working with strong, smart women is incredible!
What's your favorite Updater feature? Why?
I really love the Moving Concierge feature. Getting personalized cable, phone, and internet recommendations from an expert is pretty cool. They can even schedule the installation!
It's the apocalypse. Where do you hide?
My parents already have a master plan. They want me to pack up and head down to Alabama because they’re already prepped for multiple apocalypse scenarios. You think I’m joking, but I’m not. Stick with me, and you’ll be safe.
What's one thing about the real estate industry that you didn't know before working at Updater?
Movers are hungry for moving assistance from their real estate agents. Did you know that 74% of clients said they wished their agents offered help with their move?
What same-sex celebrity would you wrestle with, and in what substance?
Jennifer Aniston in Pepto Bismol; sometimes when I’m around ridiculously beautiful people, my stomach hurts. Hey, it's practical.
What do you do to unwind?
Play sand volleyball for hours and hours
Where did you grow up?
If your life was made into a TV series, which celebrity would play you?
Kristen Wiig. I like to think we’re twins separated at birth.
If you could travel to work everyday on a vehicle without wheels (think: hovercraft, broom), what would you choose?
The logistical ridiculousness of taking a helicopter 3 avenues east to the Updater office would be totally worth it.
What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
Captain D’s. Much respect if you can relate.
What's your favorite Saturday Night Live skit?
Too many to choose just one. My top runners are Cheerleaders, More Cowbell, Sarah Palin and any Andy Samberg Digital Short.
